- Contract of employment with written statement of particulars (Northern Ireland)For an employer in Northern Ireland taking on an employee on a permanent contract: a contract that is also the written statement of employment particulars Article 33 of the Employment Rights (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 requires within two months of the start. It sets out the job, place of work, pay, hours, at least 5.6 weeks' holiday, sick pay, pension enrolment, notice under Article 118 and where the disciplinary and grievance rules are, under the law of Northern Ireland. Signed by both; each keeps a copy.
- Fixed-term contract of employment (Northern Ireland)For an employer in Northern Ireland taking someone on for a set period — maternity cover, a season, a project: a contract with an end date that is also the written statement of particulars Article 33 of the Employment Rights (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 requires. It includes the protection of the Fixed-term Employees Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2002, the four-year rule for successive contracts and early termination by notice, under the law of Northern Ireland. Each party should take advice before signing. Signed by both.
- Agreement changing a contract of employment for hybrid or home working (Northern Ireland)For an employer and an employee in Northern Ireland who agree that the employee will work partly or wholly from home: a signed variation of the contract setting out the pattern of days, the start date, equipment, any contribution to costs, workstation safety, data security, an optional trial period and how the arrangement can be reviewed or ended, under the law of Northern Ireland. Everything else in the contract stays the same. Signed by both; each keeps a copy.
- Employee confidentiality agreement (Northern Ireland)For an employer and an employee in Northern Ireland: an agreement that the employee keeps the employer's confidential information secret during and after the employment, keeps it secure and returns it on leaving. It states plainly what it does not stop — whistleblowing under the Employment Rights (Northern Ireland) Order 1996, reporting a crime, speaking about harassment, discrimination or pay — and contains no non-compete or other restriction after the job ends. Governed by the law of Northern Ireland. Signed by both.
- Cohabitation agreement for a couple living together (Northern Ireland)For an unmarried couple in Northern Ireland who live together, or are about to: a written agreement on how you share the rent or mortgage and bills, what each of you owns, joint accounts and debts, and what happens to your belongings if you separate. There is no ‘common-law marriage’, so the law gives cohabitants far fewer claims than spouses. Each of you should take independent legal advice before signing; who owns the home stays as the title and any declaration of trust say.
- Business-to-business services agreement (Northern Ireland)For a business in Northern Ireland that provides services to another business: consultancy, design, maintenance, marketing or IT support. The agreement sets out the services, the fees, invoicing and payment within an agreed period, who owns the work produced, confidentiality, data protection, a cap on liability, notice to end it and the law and courts of Northern Ireland. Late payment carries statutory interest. Both businesses sign. For an individual freelancer, the freelance consultancy agreement fits better.
- Mutual non-disclosure agreement (Northern Ireland)For two businesses or individuals in Northern Ireland about to share confidential information before a deal, a joint project, an investment or a supplier relationship. Each party agrees to keep the other’s information confidential, use it only for the stated purpose, share it only with people who need to know it, and return or destroy it on request, for the number of years chosen. It keeps the usual exceptions and allows reports to the police and protected disclosures. Governed by the law of Northern Ireland.
- Lodger agreement for a room in your own home (Northern Ireland)For a homeowner or tenant in Northern Ireland who lets a room in the home they live in to a lodger. The agreement sets out the room and the shared parts, the rent and what it includes, any deposit (no more than one month’s rent), house rules and the written notice either side gives to end it — at least four weeks, and from you at least eight once the lodger has stayed more than a year. A lodger who shares your kitchen, bathroom or living space has the use of a room, not a tenancy of it. A tenant needs their own landlord’s consent first. Signed by both; each keeps a copy.
- Loan agreement between family or friends (Northern Ireland)For two private individuals in Northern Ireland — relatives, friends, a couple — lending money to each other, with or without interest. The agreement records the amount and when it was paid over, the interest if any, the final repayment date or monthly instalments, and what happens if a payment is missed, under the law of Northern Ireland. A loan between private people, not made in the course of a business, needs no FCA authorisation, falls outside most of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 and needs no registration or stamp duty. Both sign it, and each keeps a signed copy.
- Full and final settlement agreement to end a dispute (Northern Ireland)For two people or businesses in Northern Ireland who have agreed to end a dispute — over money, goods, work done, damage or a deposit — by one paying the other an agreed sum. The agreement records the payment and when it is due, that once paid it settles all claims about the dispute, that neither side admits liability, and that each bears its own costs, under the law of Northern Ireland. It is not for a dispute with an employer: an employee's claims are settled only by a compromise agreement made after independent advice, or through the Labour Relations Agency. Both sign it; each keeps a copy.
- Freelance consultancy agreement (Northern Ireland)For a client and a self-employed consultant or freelancer in Northern Ireland, working on their own account or through their own limited company. The agreement covers the services, fees and invoices, expenses, the right to send a substitute, who owns the work, confidentiality, liability, ending the contract and the off-payroll working rules (IR35), which apply across the UK. Its wording does not decide employment or tax status, which follows how the work is actually done, so each party should take advice if the status is unclear.
- Private car sale agreement and receipt (UK)For two private people in the UK selling and buying a used car, van or motorbike. It records the vehicle, the price, the time the keys changed hands, the mileage and the faults the seller knows of, and has a receipt for the money. Selling “as seen” does not let a seller misdescribe the car. A private sale needs no tax and no form: the seller tells DVLA online the same day and gives the buyer the green new keeper slip from the log book (V5C). Both sign; each keeps a copy.
