The request in which a parent in Romania asks for a child's absences for family reasons to be excused: the period, the number of hours and the reason. The framework regulation for pre-university schools (ROFUIP) allows absences to be excused on a parent's written request approved by the head, for no more than 40 hours a school year and no more than a fifth of one subject's hours, and the request says so. It ends with a space for the head's approval.

Who does the request go to?

What happens with unexcused absences?

The documents for excusing them, the parent's request included, are handed in within 7 calendar days of the pupil's return, or the absences stay unexcused; absences above the limit are backed with documents — medical or from other institutions.
