Common questions

Why would a creditor agree to instalments?
Because payment in parts beats enforced collection, which takes time and costs money. That is why the agreement also carries a duty on the other side — not to take steps while the schedule is kept to.
What happens if I miss an instalment?
Usually the whole balance falls due immediately, with no need for a fresh demand. That is the central clause in a document like this — read how many days of delay are allowed before relying on leniency.
Does acknowledging the debt harm me?
It interrupts limitation and confirms the obligation, so it is a real concession on the debtor's part. What you get in return is time and quiet — judge whether that exchange suits you before signing.
Does every instalment have to be documented?
Yes. Keep proof of each payment, and on the last one take a receipt for the discharged debt. A schedule with undocumented instalments returns the dispute to where it started.
