Agreement for the free loan of a home (comodato) (Spain)
Spain · in Spanish
For a person in Spain who lends a home free of charge to a relative or someone else, and for the person receiving it: the comodato agreement (articles 1740 to 1752 of the Spanish Civil Code) recording that no rent is paid and setting the use, the term — until a date, or until the home is reclaimed with the agreed notice — each party's costs, upkeep and return. It helps prove the loan is free and avoids disputes when the home is taken back. Signed by both parties in two copies. In Spanish.
Tenant's objection to a landlord's notice on hardship grounds (Germany)
Germany · in German · for tenants
The letter a tenant in Germany uses to object to a landlord's ordinary notice — for own use, for example — and to demand that the tenancy continue, because moving out would be an unjustifiable hardship for the tenant or the household (§ 574 of the German Civil Code, BGB): old age, illness, pregnancy, children at school or no affordable replacement housing. Since 1 January 2025 text form is enough (§ 574b BGB); the objection must reach the landlord no later than two months before the tenancy ends. The letter gives the reasons and does not accept the notice. In German.
Resignation letter (France)
France · in French · for employees
The French labour ministry's site code.travail.gouv.fr offers a free model resignation letter. This document is a resignation letter for an employee on an open-ended contract (CDI) in mainland France or an overseas department other than Mayotte: it gives notice of resignation, refers to the notice period set by the collective agreement, the contract or custom, can ask to be released from working it, and asks for the end-of-employment documents. French law prescribes no form; send it by registered post with proof of receipt or hand it over against a signed receipt, to prove the day the notice starts. In French.
Application to defer or pay an administrative fine in instalments (Austria)
Austria · in German
An application to the district authority, the city's Magistrat or the Land police directorate to pay a fine from an Austrian penalty order or penalty decision later or in instalments (§ 54b Abs 3 of the Austrian Administrative Penal Act, VStG): with the file number, the amount, your payment proposal, your financial circumstances and why the difficulty is temporary. If paying at once is unreasonable for economic reasons, the authority must grant a suitable deferral or instalments. In German, ready to print, sign and send with proof of income and outgoings.
Resignation letter (Austria)
Austria · in German · for employees
A resignation letter for an employee in Austria (Selbstkündigung): notice ending your employment with the notice period, or during the probation month, on the date you choose or else on the next possible date, asking for confirmation, a written reference (Dienstzeugnis), the final pay and pay in lieu of untaken leave. Austrian law prescribes no form, but many collective agreements (Kollektivverträge) require writing: print, sign and hand it over against a receipt. For white- and blue-collar workers; not for apprentices. In German.
Demand for unpaid wages (Cyprus)
Cyprus · in Greek · for employees
A written demand by an employee or former employee in Cyprus to the employer for wages that have not been paid: the job, the salary, the unpaid periods and the amount owed, with seven days to pay into a bank account, the documents attached and a request for a written reply within 14 days. It warns that, if unpaid, a written complaint to the Department of Labour Relations under the Protection of Wages Law and a claim before the Labour Disputes Court will follow, or, above two years' wages, before the District Court, for which it is also the letter of claim the Civil Procedure Rules require. It is sent by registered post or by hand.
IKE partners' resolution appointing and removing the manager (Greece)
Greece · in Greek
The minutes by which the partners of a Greek private company (IKE) appoint a new manager (diacheiristis) and, where needed, remove the previous one: the manager's details with father's name and AFM, term, pay, any special rules on their powers, the signature accepting the role and authority to file with GEMI. The manager must be an individual, partner or not, and is appointed by a majority of all the shares, at a meeting called on 8 days' notice or in minutes signed by every partner.
Employee's claim challenging a dismissal at the Labour and Social Court (Austria)
Austria · in German · for employees
The claim with which an employee in Austria challenges the employer's notice of dismissal at the Labour and Social Court (Arbeits- und Sozialgericht) — as socially unjustified or for a forbidden motive (§ 105(3) of the Labour Constitution Act, ArbVG), in workplaces with at least five permanent employees. The deadline is short: two weeks from receipt of the notice where there is no works council (§ 107 ArbVG) or the works council did not object; if it objected, first ask it to challenge (§ 105(4) ArbVG). The Arbeiterkammer advises and represents its members free of charge. You can file it yourself at first instance. In German, to print, sign and file in two copies.
Resignation of a GmbH managing director (Austria)
Austria · in German
The declaration by which a managing director of an Austrian GmbH or FlexCo resigns under § 16a of the Austrian Limited Liability Companies Act (GmbHG) — at once for good cause, otherwise after 14 days or on a later date. The same letter goes to every shareholder; the other managing directors and any supervisory board chair receive a copy. With the request to file the end of the director's authority with the company register (Firmenbuch, § 17 GmbHG) and an acknowledgement of receipt, since receipt has to be proved. In German.
Employment reference request — Arbeitszeugnis (Germany)
Germany · in German · for employees
A letter asking a German employer for a full employment reference (qualifiziertes Arbeitszeugnis) on leaving, or an interim reference (Zwischenzeugnis) while still employed — expressly covering performance and conduct, because without that request the employer owes only a basic reference stating the type and length of the work (§ 109 of the German Trade Regulation Act, GewO). It gives the job, the period of employment, the reason and a date by which the reference should be posted. No form is prescribed for the request. In German.
Landlord's notice ending a tenancy for own use (Germany)
Germany · in German · for landlords
A landlord's ordinary notice in Germany ending a tenancy because the landlord, a family member or a member of the household needs the flat (§ 573(2) no. 2 of the German Civil Code, BGB). As § 573(3) BGB requires, the letter names the person who is to move in, their relationship to the landlord, where they live now and why they need the flat; it states the notice period by length of tenancy (three, six or nine months), objects to a tacit extension and tells the tenant about the right to object in text form (§ 574b BGB). Written form: print and sign by hand by every landlord. In German.
Application to withdraw a notice of resignation (Bulgaria)
Bulgaria · in Bulgarian · for employees
A notice cannot be withdrawn unilaterally — once it has been given, withdrawing it needs the employer's agreement. That is why this document is an application rather than a notification, and why it should be filed as early in the notice period as possible. It identifies the notice by date and asks expressly for written confirmation that the employment continues.
Tenant's notice ending a residential lease (Austria)
Austria · in German · for tenants
The written notice by which a tenant in Austria ends the lease of a flat under § 33 Abs 1 of the Austrian Tenancy Act (MRG): an open-ended lease on the agreed or else the statutory period (§ 560 ZPO), a fixed-term lease after its first year on three months to the end of a month (§ 29 Abs 2 MRG), or a lease outside the MRG altogether. It gives notice to the chosen date or else the next possible one, asks for a handover date and the deposit, can claim compensation for improvements (§ 10 MRG) and carries a receipt section. Signed by hand by every tenant, or with a qualified electronic signature — a plain e-mail is void. In German.
Employee's claim against a dismissal at the labour court (Germany)
Germany · in German · for employees
The claim an employee in Germany files against the employer's notice of dismissal (Kündigungsschutzklage). Anyone who considers a dismissal invalid must sue at the labour court (Arbeitsgericht) within three weeks of receiving it (§ 4 of the Dismissal Protection Act, KSchG), or it is treated as valid (§ 7 KSchG). Every labour court's Rechtsantragstelle also records claims free of charge. The claim sets out the parties, the application, the dismissal, the size of the business, the works council and the grounds; at first instance you may conduct the case yourself (§ 11 ArbGG). In German, to print, sign and file with one copy — e-mail is not enough.
Notice to the tax office of ceasing freelance work (Germany)
Germany · in German
The letter a freelancer in Germany — a translator, architect, consultant, teacher or journalist, for example — sends to the tax office (Finanzamt) on giving up their self-employed profession. Section 138 of the German Fiscal Code (AO) requires the notice within one month, and there is no official form for it. It gives the tax number, the kind of work and its last day, says whether the practice is closed or sold, deals with the VAT pre-returns and asks for the advance payments to be adjusted. In German, to post or to send through ELSTER.
