Parenting agreement: residence, contact and child maintenance (France)
A standard form for separated parents, married or not, who agree on how their children's lives are organised: alternating residence or residence with one parent, contact and staying rights, holidays, maintenance and education costs, exceptional expenses. To have their agreement approved, parents apply to the family judge on Cerfa form 16139, free on service-public.gouv.fr, which also offers two model agreements: you do not need DocMuse for this step. Our form lets the parents choose each clause and does not review their situation. Unmarried parents can also have their maintenance agreement made enforceable by the CAF or MSA.
Letter ending the probation period (France)
The French labour ministry's site code.travail.gouv.fr offers free model letters ending the probation period, for the employee and for the employer. This document is a letter by which the employer or the employee ends the employment contract during the probation period (période d'essai) in mainland France or an overseas department other than Mayotte: it says who is ending it, refers to the notice period of article L. 1221-25 (employer) or L. 1221-26 (employee) of the Labour Code and gives the end date. No reason has to be given. Hand it over against a signed receipt or send it by registered post with proof of receipt, before the probation period ends. In French.
Request to the town hall to enrol a child at school (France)
For a parent enrolling a child in a French state nursery or primary school, for the first time or after a move. Many town halls have their own form or a free online portal: use it if there is one. Otherwise this letter in French to the school affairs department asks for enrolment and for the certificat d’inscription to show the head teacher (article L. 131-5 of the French Education Code), and lists the documents: family record book or birth certificate, proof of address, vaccinations.
Withdrawal letter for a distance or off-premises purchase (France)
For a consumer in France who bought online, by phone, from a catalogue or from a doorstep seller and has changed their mind: you withdraw within 14 days without giving reasons under Article L. 221-18 of the French Consumer Code, and ask for everything you paid back within 14 days. The model withdrawal form, which the seller must give you free, works too, and since 19 June 2026 online shops must offer a withdrawal function. A letter in French, to send by registered post with proof of receipt or by e-mail so that you keep proof.
Minutes approving the annual accounts and allocating the result (France)
For the annual ordinary general meeting of a French SAS or SARL, or the sole member's decision in an SASU or EURL: approval of the year's accounts, allocation of the profit or loss with the legal reserve, statement of the dividends of the three previous years, related-party agreements where there are any, powers to file. To be held within six months of the year end. The accounts are then filed online on the one-stop business formalities portal within a month of approval. In French.
Referral to the consumer mediator (France)
For a consumer in France whose written complaint to a business went unanswered or unresolved. Two free routes exist: reporting on SignalConso, the DGCCRF's service, which does not settle your dispute, and the online referral form many mediators offer. The consumer mediator proposes a solution, free of charge (Article L. 612-1 of the French Consumer Code). This letter refers the case by post: it sets out the dispute, the prior complaint and your request. Send it within a year of that complaint (Article L. 612-2). In French.
Parental consent to medical care and treatment of a minor (France)
For parents who leave their child with grandparents, a childminder, a holiday centre or a school trip. The French document authorises the named person or body, for a set period, to have the child treated and, in an emergency, to allow whatever operation the doctor considers necessary if the parents cannot be reached in time (article R. 1112-35 of the French Public Health Code). It holds no medical data. Signed by one parent, or by both for a planned operation.
Standard articles of a property holding company (SCI) (France)
Standard articles of a French société civile immobilière (SCI) for two to four members who contribute cash to buy and manage one or more properties, often within a family. The company is then set up on the one-stop business formalities portal (formalites.entreprises.gouv.fr), with the legal notice. The articles cover the purpose, contributions and capital, members' liability, transfer of shares with everyone's approval, management, decisions and accounts. They do not cover contributing a property, which needs a notary, split ownership of shares, or the tax option. In French.
Mobility lease of a furnished home (France)
For letting a furnished home in France for one to ten months to someone in training, higher education, an apprenticeship, an internship, civic service, a job transfer or a temporary assignment (art. 25-12 of the French law of 6 July 1989). The French bail mobilité carries its compulsory statements: the name of the lease and the reason, without which it becomes an ordinary furnished lease, and the term and the ban on a deposit. Not renewable, one month's notice for the tenant, a flat sum for charges. Signed by each party.
Check-in inventory of condition of a home (France)
For the landlord and tenant in France on the day the keys are handed over, unfurnished or furnished. The French record follows the content of décret n° 2016-382: meter readings, keys and passes, the condition of floors, walls, ceilings and fittings room by room and, for a furnished home, the inventory and condition of the furniture. It notes that the tenant may have it completed within ten days. Filled in together on site, signed by each party, one copy each.
Compensation claim for a delayed or cancelled flight or denied boarding (France)
For a passenger whose flight departing from the EU, or arriving in the EU on an EU airline, arrived three hours or more late, was cancelled less than fourteen days before departure, or who was denied boarding. You ask the airline for the flat-rate compensation of €250, €400 or €600 per passenger under Regulation (EC) No 261/2004, and for your expenses. Without a satisfactory answer, mediation has been compulsory before going to a French court since 7 February 2026. The airline's online form works too. In French.
Fixed-term employment contract (CDD) — replacement or temporary increase in activity (France)
A standard full-time fixed-term employment contract (CDD) for mainland France and the overseas departments other than Mayotte, limited to the two commonest grounds: replacing an absent employee or a temporary increase in activity (article L. 1242-2 of the French Labour Code). It contains the particulars of article L. 1242-12 — precise ground, end date, post, probation, pay, collective agreement, supplementary pension and provident bodies — and the 10 % end-of-contract payment. A CDD without a precise and true ground is deemed open-ended. Give it to the employee within two working days of hiring. In French.
Withdrawal from a consumer credit agreement (France)
For a borrower in France who accepted a consumer credit offer (personal loan, car loan, revolving credit, credit linked to a purchase) and has changed their mind. You withdraw within fourteen full calendar days of accepting the offer, without giving reasons (Article L. 312-19 of the French Consumer Code); the period is shorter, at least three days, if you asked for immediate delivery of goods bought on credit. The detachable form attached to the offer is enough and free; this letter does the same with your references and deals with repaying any funds already paid out. In French, to send by registered post with proof of receipt before the period ends.
Formal demand for the return of a rent deposit (France)
For a former tenant whose landlord in France has not returned the deposit in time: one month after the keys are handed back if the check-out inspection matches the check-in, two months otherwise. The French letter sets out the dates, claims the balance and the 10 % of the monthly rent per month of delay begun (art. 22 of the French law of 6 July 1989), disputes unjustified deductions and announces the conciliation commission, then the court. By registered letter with proof of receipt.
Check-out inventory of condition of a home (France)
For the landlord and tenant in France on the day of moving out and returning the keys. The French record follows décret n° 2016-382: the tenant's new address, the date of the check-in inventory, meter readings, keys returned, the condition of each room against moving in and, for a furnished home, the furniture. It separates normal wear, which stays with the landlord, from damage, and recalls the time limit for returning the deposit. Signed by each party, one copy each.
Lease of an unfurnished home (France)
For the landlord and tenant of an unfurnished home let as the tenant's main residence in France. The model contract, compulsory since 1 October 2026 (décret n° 2026-596), is published free on Légifrance; this French lease follows its headings, ready to fill in: a term of three or six years depending on the landlord, rent, yearly review by the IRL index, service charges, a one-month deposit, the termination clause that applies six weeks after an unanswered formal demand to pay, and an optional section for rent control. In French, printed in one original per party and signed by each.
Referral to the bank mediator (France)
For a customer of a French bank whose written complaint was rejected, or went unanswered for two months. The mediator the bank has appointed is free to use, often through an online form on its website. This letter, in French under French law, refers the matter by post: it recalls your complaint, the dispute and what you ask for, and shows the referral is admissible — a prior written complaint, referral within a year, no other mediator or court involved (article L. 612-2 of the French Consumer Code).
Invitation letter for a visa application (France)
For someone in France inviting a foreign relative or friend who needs a visa, for a private visit of under three months. The official document is the attestation d’accueil (Cerfa 10798), which the host requests in person at the town hall, with a €30 tax stamp. This letter, in French under French law, goes with it in the visa file without replacing it: it presents the guest, the dates and purpose of the stay, the accommodation and the costs the host covers. The guest attaches it to the visa application.
Landlord's notice to end the lease: own use, sale or legitimate reason (France)
For a landlord in France ending the lease at its term: at least six months ahead for an unfurnished home, three months for a furnished one. The French letter states the ground — taking the home back to live in, with the beneficiary and the relationship; sale, with the price and terms, which are an offer to the tenant; or a legitimate and serious reason — and lists the enclosures, including the information notice of the arrêté of 13 December 2017. By registered letter with proof of receipt, commissaire de justice, or by hand against a receipt.
Administrative appeal against a decision — recours gracieux or hiérarchique (France)
For challenging a decision of a French administration — a refused application, a penalty, a decision of a town hall or préfecture — by asking its author (recours gracieux) or the author's superior (recours hiérarchique) to withdraw or change it. Lodged within two months, the appeal interrupts the deadline for the administrative court (article L. 411-2 of the French Code of Relations between the Public and the Administration), except in planning matters; two months' silence counts as rejection. The letter, in French, sets out the decision, your grounds and your request. Send it by registered post.
Parental authorisation for a minor travelling with another adult (France)
For entrusting a child to a grandparent, a relative or a holiday organiser for a trip. If the child leaves France with no holder of parental authority, the only parental authorisation required is the exit authorisation (AST, Cerfa form 15646*01), free on service-public.gouv.fr: you do not need DocMuse for it. This French letter goes with it, or serves for a trip within France: it names the companion, the dates and the destination, and gives a contact. A child travelling with one of its parents needs no authorisation at all.
Subject access request under the GDPR (France)
For finding out what a company, administration or association based in France knows about you. The CNIL publishes a free model letter; this letter, in French, follows the same right and goes further: confirmation of processing, a copy of the data, purposes, recipients, retention period, source and automated decisions (article 15 of the GDPR), an answer within one month (article 12), first copy free. It announces a complaint to the CNIL if there is no reply. Send it by post or through the channel named in the privacy policy.
