The general annex — it works for any contract in the catalogue. Amending a signed contract has to be done in writing, in the same form as the contract itself, and it must say which clauses change, with what wording, and from which date. An annex that states only what is new, without naming the clauses it replaces, is a common source of argument about what is actually in force.

Common questions

Do I have to copy out the whole contract in the annex?
No. The annex names which clauses are being amended and with what text it replaces them. That is why there are separate sections for amended, new and deleted clauses — an annex that states only what is new leaves open the question of what has gone.
From when do the changes take effect?
From the date the parties write down, not automatically from signature. That is why there is a separate field for it — changes with retrospective effect are possible, but they have to be expressly agreed.
How many annexes can one contract have?
There is no limit, but past two or three it becomes hard to follow what is in force. At that point it is cleaner to sign a new contract that brings everything together in one place.
Can the annex be done by email?
An exchange of consent by email can bind the parties, but it is weaker to prove, and for contracts required to be in writing it may not be enough. An annex signed on paper remains the safest option.
