For someone who cannot collect a parcel, registered letter, document or certificate in person and asks another person to do it. Correos, courier companies and many Spanish bodies have their own free authorisation form: if they ask for it, use theirs. This authorisation states what is collected, where and until when, and the authorised person shows it with their ID and a copy of the principal’s identity document. Both people sign. In Spanish.

Common questions
- Do Correos and courier companies in Spain accept an authorisation to collect a parcel?
- Each company sets its own conditions for handing over to someone else: some have their own authorisation form, and some consignments are delivered only to the addressee, at the sender’s choice. Ask at the office or customer service first and, if they have their own form, use it. This authorisation serves where there is none.
- Can someone else collect a certificate from a Spanish public body for me?
- Many bodies hand certificates to another person with a signed authorisation and a copy of the holder’s DNI; others, because personal data are involved, require their own form or hand them to the holder only. Many certificates can also be obtained in the body’s electronic office. Check their conditions first and, if they require their own form, use it.
- What must the person collecting the item in Spain bring?
- Their original DNI or NIE, this signed authorisation and a copy of the principal’s identity document, plus the delivery notice, tracking number or request receipt. When collecting, they sign the receipt in their own name, and it is wise for them to keep a copy of the authorisation.
