For someone who cannot attend to one matter in person and asks another person to do a single act: file a document, sign for keys, attend a meeting, hand in paperwork. Many Spanish bodies have their own form or an online power in their electronic office, both free: if they require it, use theirs. The authorisation describes the act, where it is done and until when it is valid, and excludes anything needing a notarial power. Both people sign it, and the authorised person carries it with their ID. In Spanish.

Common questions
- What if the Spanish body has its own authorisation form?
- Use it. The Spanish Tax Agency and other bodies accept powers granted in their electronic office or in the electronic register of powers, and many offices and companies have their own free authorisation form. If the body requires its own, this authorisation does not replace it. It serves where there is no form of their own, and with individuals and companies that accept it.
- Which acts can a private authorisation not cover in Spain?
- Those that need a public document: buying or selling property or granting a mortgage requires a power granted before a notary (article 1280.5 of the Spanish Civil Code), and acting before a court a notarial or apud acta power (article 24 of the Spanish Civil Procedure Act). Nor does it cover any act other than the one described, or anything after the date given. For several everyday errands over a period, the mandate for everyday errands fits better.
- Does the authorised person also have to sign the Spanish authorisation?
- It is advisable: their signature shows they accept the task and helps the office check who they are. The authorised person carries their own original DNI or NIE and a copy of the principal’s identity document. Where the matter is with an individual or a company, hand over or show a signed copy of this authorisation too.

This Spanish document, in Spanish, is for challenging an act of a Spanish ministry, regional government or town hall: the recurso de alzada to the higher body, if the act does not end the administrative route, or the recurso de reposición to the same body, if it does. The Council has three months to decide.

This can be done free of charge on the Spanish State's Transparency Portal and on each body's electronic office, with their own form; you do not need DocMuse for it. - Personal invitation letter and accommodation undertaking (Spain)
The official invitation letter (carta de invitación) is applied for in person by the host at the police station where they live, paying the fee on form 790 code 012 (Spanish Order PRE/1283/2007); DocMuse does not sell it. This Spanish document, in Spanish, only accompanies it: the host's personal letter to the Spanish embassy or consulate, with the relationship, purpose and dates of the visit, the home and the costs the host covers. It does not replace the official letter. Sign it and send it to the guest, who files it with the visa application.

File it through a registry or at a post office as administrative mail.
- Letter of complaint to a public body (Spain)
This can be done free of charge on the body's electronic office or at its counters, with its own complaints and suggestions form; you do not need DocMuse for it. In the Spanish State administration the unit answers within twenty working days. File it through a registry or at a post office.
