For someone who has revoked a mandate, authorisation or power and wants the bank, company, building administrator or office the agent dealt with to stop acting on the agent’s instructions. The letter gives notice of the revocation and its date, identifies the agent and asks for written confirmation. It goes by burofax with certified content and acknowledgement of receipt, one letter per recipient, with a copy of the principal’s ID. Many Spanish banks have their own procedure to remove an authorised person. In Spanish.

Common questions

Who should receive notice of the revocation in Spain?
The banks, companies, building administrators, offices and people with whom the agent acted or could act in your name, one letter each. If the mandate was given to deal with specified persons, the revocation cannot prejudice them until they are told of it (article 1734 of the Spanish Civil Code), and what they do in good faith unaware of it may still stand (article 1738).
How is the notice delivered to a Spanish bank or company?
By burofax with certified content and acknowledgement of receipt, which proves what was notified and when, or by hand at the branch, asking for your copy to be stamped and dated. Many banks also have their own procedure to remove an authorised person from an account or card: ask for it and use it alongside this letter.
What is attached to the notice of revocation in Spain?
A copy of your DNI or NIE, so the body can check the notice is yours, and, if you have it, a copy of the revocation letter sent to the agent or of the deed of revocation granted before a notary. Do not attach the original mandate: it is the agent who must return it to you.
