Common questions
- Can I accept the work with reservations?
- Yes, and that is exactly what the fields for remarks and outstanding work are for. Acceptance without reservation is read as acceptance without objection, which later makes any claim for defects harder.
- Do I have to sign in order to pay?
- The contract usually ties payment to acceptance, so the record is the document that releases the final sum. A refusal to sign without stating any defects is read as the client being in default.
- What if a defect appears after acceptance?
- Hidden defects can be raised after acceptance too — acceptance covers what was visible. So record your findings specifically: that is what draws the line between what was seen and what was hidden.
- Is a record needed for a small job?
- The value does not change the logic. On a small job the record may be a few lines, but the date, the description and the signatures do the same work — they prove what was accepted and when.
