A transfer depends on available places and on how many of the examinations already passed will be recognised — which is why this application expressly asks for recognition of the subjects and a plan for making up the difference. Without that question a student transfers and then discovers they owe ten examinations. Moving from full-time to part-time study also changes the fee and the entitlement to a hall place and a grant.

- Will my examinations be recognised?
- Some of them, depending on how far the curricula overlap. That is why the application expressly asks for recognition and a plan for making up the difference — without that question the transfer happens and you then find you owe ten examinations.
- Does the fee change if I switch mode of study?
- Yes. Full-time and part-time study have different fees, and moving between them also affects entitlement to a hall place and a grant. Work out the difference before filing.
- What does being accepted depend on?
- Mainly on free places on the receiving course and on your results. The application is a request, not a right, so the reason and the documents attached carry weight.
- When is it filed?
- Usually between academic years or between semesters, when places are allocated. An application mid-semester is rarely considered, even where a place is free.
