This document is in German

The PDF you download is in German — that is the language it has to be filed in, so it is not translated. Everything on this page is here to tell you what it says.

A written objection to a bill from your mobile, landline or internet provider in Austria: with the bill's number and date, the amount disputed and the reasons, such as unknown premium services, roaming, data use or charges billed twice. You ask for the charges to be reviewed and confirmed or corrected in writing (§ 145 of Austria's Telecommunications Act, TKG 2021), with an itemised bill, and pay the undisputed part. Object within three months of the bill; it opens the way to free conciliation at the RTR, Austria's telecoms regulator. In German.

Common questions

By when must a wrong mobile or internet bill in Austria be challenged?
Best at once. A review of the charges can be requested in writing within three months of the bill (§ 145 TKG 2021); after that, the call and data records that would show an error may already be deleted. The objection takes effect on receipt: send it signed by registered post, or by the channel the provider's terms name, and keep the proof.
Does the disputed part of a phone bill in Austria have to be paid?
The undisputed part should be paid on time. For the disputed amount: once the objection is formally lodged with the RTR's conciliation body, that amount is not due until the procedure ends (§ 145 TKG 2021). An objection to the provider alone does not have that effect. So turn to the RTR promptly if the provider does not give way.
What is an itemised bill (Einzelentgeltnachweis) in Austria, and why ask for it?
The Einzelentgeltnachweis lists the calls and services charged one by one — calls, texts, data use, premium services and roaming. It shows where an unusual amount comes from, and it is the basis for the provider's review and later for the RTR's conciliation body. The document asks for it for the period of the disputed bill.
