The receipt by which a private person in Romania confirms receiving money from another: who received it and from whom, the sum in figures and words, what for, how it was paid and what remains to be paid. Why get a receipt for a cash payment between private persons in Romania?

Because it is the proof of payment. The Civil Code gives the payer the right to a receipt, and a transaction over 250 lei can no longer be proved by witnesses (art. 309 of the Code of Civil Procedure). Without a receipt, a cash payment is very hard to prove.

What should a receipt between private persons include?

Who received the money and from whom, the sum in figures and in words, what it was for, the date, the place and the signature of the person receiving it. If the payment is partial, the receipt also shows what remains to be paid.

Does the receipt replace an invoice?
