An order imposing a disciplinary penalty is challenged in writing and quickly — the time limit runs from its service, so the first thing to note down is the date you received it. The objection says specifically which of the alleged breaches you dispute and why: you were not heard, the act was not committed, the penalty does not match the gravity. Keep a copy with a reference number.

Is there a time limit for objecting?

Yes, and it runs from the service of the order, not from finding out some other way. That is why the first field is the date of service — everything else is counted from it, including an appeal to the court.

The employer did not hear me before imposing it. Does that matter?

Yes, and it is among the strongest grounds. Before a disciplinary penalty is imposed the employee must be heard or give written explanations; the omission is a defect in the order in its own right, whatever the breach.

Does the objection cancel the penalty?

Not by itself. It obliges the employer to reconsider and creates the written trace without which a later challenge is much weaker. If the penalty stands, the objection remains part of the record of the dispute.

Can I refuse to sign the order?

You can, but a refusal is usually certified by witnesses and the order is treated as served. It is more use to sign with a note that the signature acknowledges receipt rather than agreement, and to file an objection at once.
