For an employee in Bulgaria who considers their dismissal unlawful. The claim asks the district court to declare the dismissal unlawful and set it aside and, if you choose, to reinstate you in your previous job and award compensation for the time without work, up to six months' gross pay (Art. 344(1) and Art. 225(1) of the Bulgarian Labour Code). It must be filed within two months of the end of the employment (Art. 358). The employee pays no court fee and may file it without a lawyer. In Bulgarian.

Common questions
- How long do I have to bring a claim against a dismissal in Bulgaria?
- Two months from the day the employment ended (Art. 358(1)(2) of the Bulgarian Labour Code). If you are not sure of that date, count from the day you received the dismissal order and do not leave the filing to the last days. The claim for compensation under Art. 225(1) is brought within the same period, together with the claim to set the dismissal aside.
- Is there a court fee for a dismissal claim in Bulgaria, and is a lawyer needed?
- The employee pays no court fee and no costs of the proceedings (Art. 359 of the Bulgarian Labour Code). The law does not require a lawyer: you may sign the claim yourself and file it at the district court's registry or send it by registered post with advice of delivery, with a copy of it and of the enclosures for the employer.
- What happens in Bulgaria if the court sets the dismissal aside?
- The case is heard under the fast-track procedure (Art. 310 of the Bulgarian Civil Procedure Code). If the court sets the dismissal aside and reinstates you, you must report to take up the job within two weeks of receiving notice of the reinstatement, or the employment ends (Art. 345 of the Labour Code). Compensation for the time without work is up to six months' gross pay (Art. 225(1)); you prove that you were out of work, for example with your employment record book.

- Application to terminate employment by mutual consent (Art. 325(1)(1) of the Labour Code) (Bulgaria)
The way to leave at once, without working a notice period — but only if the employer agrees. The application proposes a date on which the contract is to end. The part almost nobody knows: the employer must answer within seven days, and silence counts as a refusal. Without written consent there is no termination.
- Objection to a disciplinary penalty (Bulgaria)
An order imposing a disciplinary penalty is challenged in writing and quickly — the time limit runs from its service, so the first thing to note down is the date you received it. The objection says specifically which of the alleged breaches you dispute and why: you were not heard, the act was not committed, the penalty does not match the gravity. Keep a copy with a reference number.
- Notice of resignation (Art. 326 of the Labour Code) (Bulgaria)
When you leave of your own accord, the law wants written notice — not a conversation and not an email. This document puts it in the form Art. 326(1) of the Labour Code requires, states the notice period and names your last working day, so there is no argument about when the contract ends. The period is thirty days unless your contract says otherwise, and by law it cannot exceed three months.
- Notice to the employer of absence on sick leave (Bulgaria)
A sick note is issued by the doctor, but the employer has to be told that you are absent — at once, not when you come back. This document does that in writing: the date your absence starts, the number of the sick note, and how to reach you. The notification does not replace the sick note; it goes with it.
- Application for leave on marriage, blood donation or bereavement (Bulgaria)
Paid leave under Art. 157 of the Labour Code is due on specific occasions — getting married, donating blood, the death of a close relative, attending court. It is separate from annual leave and is not deducted from it. The number of days is set by the Act and may be increased by a collective agreement, which is why it is a field here rather than an assumption.
- Application for unpaid leave (Bulgaria)
Unpaid leave is not an entitlement — it is granted by the employer, so the application has to be in writing and has to carry a decision on it. State the exact period and the reason, because whether the time counts towards length of service and insurance depends on how long it is. File it early enough for someone to be able to cover your work.
