- Where does a complaint about medical treatment in Romania go?
- First to the management of the provider — hospital, clinic or practice; public providers answer within 30 days. If that does not resolve it, the patient can turn to the county public health directorate, and for a doctor's conduct, to the college of physicians, which hears disciplinary cases.
- What rights does a patient have in Romania?
- Law no. 46/2003 recognises, among others, the right to be informed about one's health and treatments, to consent to or refuse a procedure, to confidentiality, and to medical care of the highest quality available in society, in line with its human, financial and material resources (art. 2), without discrimination.
- How is compensation for medical malpractice claimed?
- Medical staff carry compulsory malpractice liability insurance, and compensation can be sought through the procedure in Law no. 95/2006 or in court. The complaint to the provider, with its dates and facts, is the first document in the file.
