Does ANPC deal with individual consumer complaints?
Yes. ANPC registers and examines consumer complaints, can inspect the trader and impose penalties, and answers within the 30 days allowed for petitions (Government Ordinance no. 27/2002). Individual compensation, though, comes from agreement with the trader, alternative dispute resolution or the courts.
What should be done before complaining to ANPC?
Complain to the trader first, in writing, with a registration number or proof of sending. ANPC usually wants to see that the trader was told of the problem first, and the complaint sets out what was tried and what answer came back.
How is a complaint to ANPC filed?
Online, on ANPC's website after identifying oneself, or by post or at the registry of the county consumer protection office. Copies of the receipt or invoice, the contract and the correspondence with the trader go with it.
