Common questions

Can the school refuse the move?
It can, if there are no free places in the relevant class. That is why the application states where the child is coming from and into which class — the receiving institution judges on that rather than on a general wish.
When is the best moment?
Before the start of the school year or the term, when places are allocated. A move mid-term is possible but depends entirely on a place being available and on the institution's rules.
What documents will they ask for?
Usually a transfer certificate from the current institution and a document showing the year or term completed. The application opens the procedure; the list of documents is settled by the receiving school.
Is the other parent's consent needed?
Questions of education are decided by both parents. Where they disagree, or where one cannot be reached, the receiving institution may ask for further documents or for a court decision.
