Objection to a traffic-fine notice (Greece)

Three days from service: that is all the time the new Greek Road Traffic Code allows for objecting to a traffic ticket (art. 107 of Law 5209/2025), and this document is written to be filed the same day. It goes to the authority of the officer who recorded the offence, electronically or, where that is not possible, by any other suitable means, with the ticket's details, the grounds, the evidence and, if someone else was driving, who. Camera fines are objected to through Gov.gr Wallet within the same three days. The old half-fine for paying within ten days no longer exists.

Common questions
- How many days are there to object to a traffic ticket under Greece's new Road Traffic Code?
- Three days from service of the ticket (art. 107 of Law 5209/2025). The new Code has applied since 13 September 2025 and replaced Law 2696/1999. The time is short, so file the objection at once and keep the reference number or the electronic receipt. If no objection is filed, or it is rejected, the head of the authority confirms the fine, which is then payable within two months.
- How is an objection to a Greek camera fine filed?
- Camera fines are served electronically, in the gov.gr mailbox, and objections go through Gov.gr Wallet within the same three days (Law 5256/2025). Follow the app's steps; the grounds and evidence this document gathers make it quick to fill in. For a ticket served by a traffic or municipal police officer, the document is filed with the authority named on the ticket.
- What if someone else was driving the car in Greece — a buyer before the transfer, say?
- If the offence was recorded without the driver being stopped — by a camera, say — the owner who was not driving names the actual driver (name, address, tax number) in a solemn declaration within an exclusive seven days of service, in person or through Gov.gr Wallet; otherwise the owner is treated as the offender. For a car sold but not yet transferred, the sale agreement and the handover record show who had it. Enter the driver in the objection too, which has three days.
