Move-in handover record and inventory for a rented home (Greece)

The PDF you download is in Greek — that is the language it has to be filed in, so it is not translated. Everything on this page is here to tell you what it says.
The record a landlord and tenant in Greece sign when the home is handed over: the condition of each room, an inventory of furniture and equipment, the electricity, water, gas and heating meter readings, the keys, and any defects already there. It is attached to the lease and is the main proof of the starting condition: the home is compared with it at move-out to decide what is ordinary wear and what may be kept from the deposit.

Common questions
- What does a Greek tenant gain from a handover record at move-in?
- Proof of how the home was received. The tenant does not answer for wear from ordinary use, but without a record it is hard to show that damage was already there. With the record and photographs taken the same day, the comparison at move-out is simple, and the deposit comes back without arguments over old defects.
- What goes into the inventory of a Greek rented home?
- Every piece of furniture and every appliance handed over with the home, with its condition — fridge, cooker, washing machine, air conditioners, wardrobes — plus keys, remote controls and entry cards. The meter readings show from when the tenant pays for electricity, water, gas and heating, and make it easier to move the accounts into the tenant's name.
- Do the signatures on a Greek handover record need to be certified?
- No — both signatures on two copies are enough. If you want proof of the date and of who signed, you can sign it free on docs.gov.gr with the private-agreement certification, which has the force of a signature authenticated at a citizen service centre (ΚΕΠ). Both parties need Taxisnet credentials.
