Revocation of an authorisation or power of attorney (Greece)

The out-of-court notice (εξώδικη δήλωση) by which someone in Greece revokes an authorisation or power of attorney they gave: it describes the authority, revokes it from service, asks for the original back and an account, and names the third parties being told. Under the Greek Civil Code the authority ends on a revocation declared to the agent or the third party (arts. 218–219), so proof matters: a court bailiff (δικαστικός επιμελητής) serves it, and the report of service proves content and date. A notarial power of attorney is revoked only by notarial deed (art. 220); the notice is then served together with the notary's deed.

Notice closing a bank account (Greece)

The letter by which an account holder in Greece closes the account and ends the framework agreement with the bank: the account, the closing date, the account to receive the balance, cancelling cards, standing orders and direct debits, a pro-rata refund of fees paid in advance, and written confirmation. It rests on Law 4537/2018, which transposed the EU Payment Services Directive; the letter asks for closing on the date chosen or when the notice period in the contract ends, if that is later.

Extrajudicial demand for payment between businesses (Greece)

The extrajudicial statement (exodiki dilosi) by which a business demands that another pay overdue invoices: the basis of the debt, the invoices, the principal, late-payment interest, the €40 for recovery costs, a deadline and the account to pay into. A court bailiff serves it, and the bailiff's report of service proves its content and date. Under Greek Law 4152/2013 the interest (reference rate plus 8 points) and €40 per invoice are due without any demand, even where no payment date was set; the notice sets a final deadline and proves the claim was made.

Withdrawal from or termination of a gym contract (Greece)

An out-of-court notice (εξώδικη δήλωση) by which a consumer leaves a gym under the special rules of Greek ministerial decision Ζ1-1262/2007: withdrawal within 30 days of receiving the contract, or termination at any time. It asks for the money for the unused part of the programme back within 30 days — on termination after the first 30 days the gym may keep at most 2.5%, and only if the contract says so — and stops recurring charges. A court bailiff serves it, so the date is proven. A generic 'cancel with notice' letter would give all of this away.

Out-of-court demand for payment (Greece)

The Greek εξώδικη δήλωση (out-of-court notice) in which a creditor calls on a debtor to pay an overdue debt — a loan, a price, a fee — within a deadline, with the sum, its cause, the document proving it and the account to pay into. A court bailiff serves it, and the bailiff's report of service proves what was said and when. Service puts the debtor in default (art. 340 of the Greek Civil Code) unless a fixed payment day already did, and announces the payment order, which since 1 May 2026 a lawyer issues on a document proving the claim.

Resignation letter (Greece)

The letter in which an employee in Greece resigns: date of hiring, job, last working day, and a request to settle pay, leave and bonuses and to issue a certificate of employment. Since Law 5239/2025 the resignation that counts is the declaration in ERGANI II within four working days, and the employee may file it personally in myErgani, with no co-signature from the employer. The letter is the dated proof of the decision.

Landlord's out-of-court notice ending a lease and demanding the home back (Greece)

A Greek landlord's out-of-court notice (εξώδικη δήλωση) ending a residential lease and calling on the tenant to hand the home back: for unpaid rent (Article 597 of the Greek Civil Code), at the end of the agreed term, or ending an open-ended lease after three years (Article 609). It is the gateway to a repossession order (Code of Civil Procedure 637), issued by a lawyer since 2026, and counts only if served by a court bailiff — letters and e-mail do not. For unpaid rent it demands payment within 15 days; for the end of the term it must be served at least three months ahead.

Complaint and termination of a phone or internet contract (Greece)

An out-of-court notice (εξώδικη δήλωση) in which a consumer in Greece sets out a complaint about a mobile, landline, internet or TV service and ends the contract. It relies on the rules of Law 4727/2020: an initial commitment of at most 24 months, termination after it with at most a month's notice, and termination free of charge when the provider changes the terms unilaterally. A court bailiff serves it, so the date from which the termination runs cannot be disputed. For money disputes the next step is Greece's consumer authority, not the telecoms regulator EETT.

Tenant's out-of-court notice terminating a lease (Greece)

The out-of-court notice (εξώδικη δήλωση) by which a tenant in Greece terminates a residential lease. Greek law gives a tenant no right to leave early, and one who leaves without cause owes rent to the end of the term; so the notice relies on the lease's early-exit clause, on serious cause (Civil Code 585, 588), on Article 609 for an open-ended lease after three years, or on the end of the agreed term, and otherwise stands as an offer to end the lease by agreement. It sets the end and handover dates, asks for the deposit back, and is served by a court bailiff, whose report proves what was said and when.

Out-of-court notice claiming a price reduction or ending the sale of faulty goods (Greece)

The second step when the seller has not repaired or replaced faulty goods, has refused, or the fault has come back: the buyer in Greece claims a proportionate price reduction or ends the sale and asks for the whole price back (arts. 545 and 546 of the Greek Civil Code, as rewritten by Law 4967/2022). It is drafted as an out-of-court notice (εξώδικη δήλωση) served by a court bailiff, whose report of service proves what was declared and when — which is what a court will ask for if it comes to that. It states the sum, the IBAN and that returning the goods is at the seller's expense.

Notice to the employer of absence through sickness (Greece)

The written notice in which an employee in Greece tells the employer they are off sick: from when, until when the absence is expected to last, which doctor is issuing the certificate and on what phone number they can be reached. The employer must be told at once, by any means, and the written notice proves when it was done. No paper certificate is enclosed: the doctor issues it electronically through the state e-prescription system run by IDIKA, and only electronic ones count. For the first three days the employer owes half pay (Greek Civil Code arts. 657–658).

Notice of withdrawal from an online or off-premises purchase (Greece)

The notice by which a consumer in Greece withdraws from a purchase made online, by phone or away from the shop, doorstep sales included, within 14 calendar days and without giving a reason (Law 2251/1994, art. 3ε). It goes further than the model form in the Act's annex: it identifies the order, asks for every payment back, standard delivery included, within 14 days, gives the IBAN for the refund and announces the return of the goods.

Notice to the insurer of a vehicle transfer and claim for unearned premium (Greece)

The seller's letter to their motor insurer in Greece after the car's digital transfer. A Greek policy neither passes to the buyer nor needs cancelling: it lapses by law 30 days after ownership or possession of the car passes (art. 8(2) of Presidential Decree 237/1986), and the insurer must return the unearned premium for the rest of the period. The letter identifies the policy and the vehicle, gives the dates of handover and transfer with the gov.gr certificate, and asks for the refund to an IBAN and for written confirmation of when cover ended.

Out-of-court demand for unpaid wages with withholding of work (Greece)

The out-of-court notice (εξώδικη δήλωση) in which an employee in Greece calls on the employer to pay overdue wages and declares that work is withheld under art. 325 of the Greek Civil Code from a set date: the periods, the amount in words, the IBAN. While a lawful withholding lasts, the employer owes pay as if work continued. A court bailiff serves it, and the bailiff's report of service proves what was said and when — which is what counts at the Labour Inspectorate and in court.

Out-of-court demand for the return of a rental deposit (Greece)

The out-of-court demand (εξώδικη πρόσκληση) by which a former tenant in Greece asks the landlord to return the deposit. The law sets neither the amount nor a deadline — the lease does — and the landlord's claims for damage lapse six months after the home is handed back (Article 602 of the Greek Civil Code). The demand gives ten days, puts the landlord in default, and is served by a court bailiff, so the report of service proves its content and date before a payment order is sought.

Revoking a standing order or direct debit (Greece)

The letter by which an account holder in Greece stops a standing order or a direct debit: the account, the payee, the mandate reference and the date the revocation takes effect. Under Law 4537/2018 a payment made after consent is withdrawn is unauthorised, and the bank refunds it. The letter works even if it arrives too late for the next debit: it then counts for all later ones. The contract with the supplier is not ended by it.
