Italy · in Italian
For a business or professional hiring an employee in Italy on an open-ended contract, full-time or part-time. It sets out the national collective agreement (CCNL) applied, grade, duties, place of work, trial period (six months at most), hours, pay, holidays, notice and severance pay (TFR), and contains the written information required by Italian Legislative Decree 152/1997 as amended by the transparency decree. Why it matches: Your employer in Italy has not paid you for months and keeps promising the money is coming.
Italy · in Italian · for employees
For a worker in Italy, still employed or not, who has not received wages, the thirteenth-month pay, overtime or other items. The letter lists the gross sums owed month by month, puts the employer formally in default with a deadline to pay, claims interest and revaluation, and interrupts the five-year limitation period. It announces the next step: the free request for intervention to the territorial labour inspectorate, for conciliation or a compliance order (diffida accertativa). Sent by registered post or PEC. In Italian.

Why it matches: Your baby is due soon in Italy and you want to tell your employer the days of paternity leave.
Italy · in Italian · for employees

Parental leave can be taken until the child is fourteen, also by the hour; the allowance is claimed separately, free of charge, with the online application to INPS or through a patronato. It states term, duties, the statutory trial-period formula, pay and the right of precedence. The term counts only if written; the copy is due within five working days. In Italian.

Italy · in Italian · for employees
For a private-sector employee in Italy whom INPS has granted the paid leave of art. 33 of Italian Law 104/1992, to care for a relative with a severe disability or for themselves. The application goes first to INPS, online and free, or through a patronato; this letter then gives the employer the details of the authorisation, with a copy enclosed, and the monthly schedule of days or hours, which the employer may ask for. The letter does not describe the disability. Send it by registered post, PEC or by hand. In Italian.

Italy · in Italian · for employers
For an employer in Italy who must put a charge to an employee in writing before imposing any disciplinary penalty beyond a verbal warning (art. 7 of the Italian Workers' Statute). The letter describes the facts with date and place, names the rule breached and gives the five days, or the longer period of the collective agreement, for a written explanation or a hearing with union assistance. Hand it over against a signed receipt, or send it by registered post with proof of receipt. In Italian.

The letter recalls the statutory rules: the employer sets the period, taking account of the employee's interests (art. 2109 of the Italian Civil Code), and at least four weeks a year are due, two of them in the year they accrue, consecutive on request (art. 10 of Legislative Decree 66/2003). Hand it in, e-mail it or send it by PEC; if the company uses a leave portal, use that. In Italian.

Receipt in full and final settlement – quietanza liberatoria (Italy)
Italy · in Italian
For a creditor in Italy who receives payment of a debt – a loan repaid, a saldo e stralcio, the last instalment of a plan – and must issue a receipt, as article 1199 of the Italian Civil Code requires. The document, in Italian under Italian law, names the parties with their codice fiscale and states the amount, date and method of payment, the original debt and whether payment is in full or on account. The creditor signs it. Above €77.47 a €2 revenue stamp (marca da bollo), bought at a tobacconist's, must be affixed.
Notice naming the driver for a penalty-points fine (Italy)
Why it matches: The car belongs to your company and you have to say which employee was driving.
Italy · in Italian
The ticket usually comes with the police body's own free form for naming the driver, which can be used instead. This is the same notice as a letter in Italian, for the owner, the legal representative of a company or the lessee: the ticket's details, the driver's details and driving licence, with the driver's signed confirmation. It must be sent within 60 days of service (art. 126-bis of the Italian Highway Code), by registered post, PEC or by hand, even if you appeal or the owner was driving.

Why it matches: Your employer wants proof that your child attends a school in Italy.
Italy · in Italian
An Italian request, in Italian, from a parent or an adult student to the school office for a certificate of enrolment or attendance for private use: an employer, a bank, a sports body, a foreign authority. Many schools issue certificates through the electronic register; with public offices, and now with private parties too, a self-declaration is enough. It has the space for the 16 € revenue stamp (sold at tobacconists; @e.bollo online), which is not applied where the use is exempt. Hand it in at the school office or send it by PEC.
Subject access request under art. 15 GDPR (Italy)

The controller must answer within one month, and the first copy is free. The Italian data protection authority (Garante) publishes a free model on its website. Art. 2120 of the Italian Civil Code allows it once during the employment, up to 70% of the TFR accrued, for exceptional medical costs or for buying a first home for oneself or a child; art. 7 of Italian Law 53/2000 adds costs during parental or training leave. The letter states the reason and encloses the documents. If the TFR goes to a pension fund, the advance is asked of the fund. Send it by registered post, PEC or by hand. In Italian.

Why it matches: You left a company in Italy and your old employer never gave you your payslips or the yearly tax certificate.
Italy · in Italian · for employees
For anyone who works or has worked as an employee in Italy and asks the employer, including a former one, for copies of the payslips for certain months and of the yearly tax certificates (Certificazione Unica) for certain years: for a mortgage, the NASpI unemployment benefit, a tax return or to check what was paid. A payslip is due with every payment (Italian Law 4/1953), and the request also counts as access to one's own personal data (art. 15 GDPR), answered within one month. Send it by registered post, PEC or by hand. In Italian.

Why it matches: Your employer fired you by e-mail and you want to keep your right to contest it.
Italy · in Italian · for employees
For a worker dismissed in Italy who wants to keep the right to contest the dismissal. The law requires a written act within sixty days of receiving the dismissal (art. 6 of Italian Law 604/1966): this letter is that act, without going into the grounds. After sending it, there are one hundred and eighty days to file the claim in court or ask for conciliation or arbitration. Send it by registered post or PEC, as early as possible. In Italian.

Italy · in Italian · for employees
For an employee in Italy who has received a disciplinary charge letter and wants to answer in writing within the five days set by art. 7 of the Italian Workers' Statute, or the longer period of the collective agreement. The letter refers to the charge, sets out the explanation written by the employee and can ask for an oral hearing, also with a union representative. Hand it over with the copy signed, or send it by registered post or PEC. In Italian.
Settlement agreement between private parties (Italy)
Why it matches: The firm that did work on your home accepts a discount and you want to close the matter in writing.
Italy · in Italian
For ending a dispute in Italy between private persons or with a business – a contested debt, damage, poor work – by mutual concessions, including a settlement for less than the full debt (saldo e stralcio). The contract, in Italian under Italian law, describes the dispute, what each party concedes, any sum and how it is paid, and the waiver of every other claim on that dispute (articles 1965 ff. of the Italian Civil Code). It is not for employment disputes. Both parties sign two copies.

A landlord who chose the cedolare secca may not ask for any update while the option lasts. Sent by registered post with proof of receipt, by PEC if the tenant has one, or by hand. In Italian.
