For anyone who wants to see the personal data a company, employer, landlord, hospital or public body in Moldova holds about them. The request, under Law no. 195/2024 on personal data protection, in force since 23 August 2026, asks for a copy of the data and for information on how it is processed, with a reply within one month at most from receiving the request. Any clear request counts, and many organisations have an online form or a data protection email address; this letter keeps a record of what you asked and when.

Common questions

Do I need a particular form to ask for my personal data in Moldova?
No. Any clear request counts: by letter, by email or through the organisation's own online form. The National Centre for Personal Data Protection (CNPDCP) publishes free explanations of how Law no. 195/2024 applies (datepersonale.md). A request emailed to a public authority is signed with a qualified electronic signature, such as MSign or the mobile signature; otherwise, post it. A written request gives you a dated record of what you asked for, which matters if the reply is late or incomplete.
How long does an organisation in Moldova have to answer a data access request?
One month at most from receiving the request. The organisation cannot ignore the request: it must register it and answer within that time. Keep proof of the day it received the request, such as the acknowledgement of receipt or a confirmation email, since the time runs from that day.
What can I do in Moldova if the organisation does not answer my access request?
Write to it once more, pointing to the date of your request. If it still does not answer in full, you can complain to the National Centre for Personal Data Protection (CNPDCP): datepersonale.md. For a public authority's records that are not about you, the route is a request for public-interest information under Law no. 148/2023.
