Common questions
- Must a data access request in German in Liechtenstein use a set form?
- No. Any clear request counts, by letter, by email or through the organisation's online form, and you need not give a reason. A written request gives you a dated record of what you asked for, which matters if the answer is late or incomplete.
- How long does an organisation in Liechtenstein have to answer an access request in German?
- One month from receiving it, extendable by two months for complex or numerous requests if it tells you so within the first month (Article 12(3) of the GDPR). The first copy is free. Art. 34 DSG allows a refusal only in narrow cases, and the refusal must give its reasons.
- What can I do in Liechtenstein if my access request in German goes unanswered?
- Write again, pointing to the date of your request. If there is still no full answer, you can complain free of charge to the Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzstelle, datenschutzstelle.li), the national supervisory authority (Art. 9 DSG). Its decisions can be appealed within four weeks (Art. 20 DSG).
