The notice by which a consumer in Romania ends a subscription — a gym, an online platform, a course, any recurring service: the contract, the notice period and end date, stopping automatic debits, and a refund of payments made in advance for the time after it ends. Common questions

Can a subscription in Romania be cancelled early?
It depends on the contract. An open-ended subscription can be ended at any time with the agreed notice. For a fixed-term one, the contract may set conditions for ending it; a term that would tie the consumer in with no way out, or with disproportionate penalties, may be unfair (Law no. 193/2000).
What happens to automatic payments after cancelling?
The trader is no longer entitled to charge for the time after the end date. The notice asks it to stop debiting; if it charges anyway, the payment can also be disputed with the bank, and proof of the cancellation shows the money was no longer owed.
How is the cancellation proved?
By sending the notice through a channel that leaves a trace — registered post with acknowledgment of receipt, an email to the address in the contract with a confirmation, or the trader's online form with a screenshot. The date of receipt matters for counting the notice period.
