The notice identifies the contract, the service and the termination date, and asks for written confirmation and a final bill, which is exactly what is missing in a later argument about charges.

Common questions

Does a call to the call centre terminate the contract?
No. The request has to be in writing and has to leave a trace of having been made. A call is often logged as an enquiry only, while the charges keep running until a document arrives.
Will they charge me a penalty?
If you are terminating before the end of a fixed term, usually yes, on the terms of the contract. Check when the term expires — terminating weeks before the end often costs more than waiting it out.
What do I do with the router and the set-top box?
Return them in time and get a document for the return. Equipment not returned is the commonest reason for a charge after termination — which is why the notice has a separate field for it.
Why ask for a final bill?
Because it closes the relationship with a figure. Without one the service stops but an open item remains, which can surface months later, by then as a debt being collected.
