Notice ending a contract for an ongoing service in Poland — a gym or pool membership, a course, a subscription, a service plan: the contract and customer numbers, the service, how it ends to underline — with the contract's notice period, immediately for important reasons, or without notice for an open-ended contract that sets none — withdrawal of consent to recurring payments, and a demand to refund fees taken in advance. It relies on rules the terms and conditions cannot exclude.

Common questions
- Can a fixed-term gym membership in Poland be ended early?
- Yes, for important reasons — illness, injury, pregnancy or a move, for instance — and the club's terms cannot exclude that right (art. 746 § 3 with art. 750 of the Civil Code); UOKiK treats such exclusions as unfair. It helps to attach a document showing the reason. Without an important reason the contract can still be ended, but the club can then claim for its loss, usually within the fees it loses.
- How are recurring payments stopped after cancelling a subscription in Poland?
- Withdraw consent to charges on the account or card in the notice, and at the same time switch off the recurring payment in the bank's app or cancel the direct debit at the bank. If the provider charges for a period after the contract ends, the charge can be reclaimed, and for a card payment the matter can be raised with the bank. A contract made online can also be withdrawn from within 14 days of signing, without giving reasons.
- What if the provider refuses to accept a notice of termination?
- Notice takes effect once it reaches the provider in a way that lets it read it (art. 61 § 1 of the Civil Code) — the provider's agreement is not needed. The safest way is registered post with a return receipt, or handing it in against a signature on a copy. If the provider keeps charging, the local consumer ombudsman can help, and terms found to be unfair do not bind the consumer.
