Request for UP-2 and UP-3 certificates

The PDF you download is in Bulgarian — that is the language it has to be filed in, so it is not translated. Everything on this page is here to tell you what it says.

These certificates are requested from an employer when retiring or when proving length of service: UP-2 shows insurable income, UP-3 the length and category of service. They are two different documents, issued separately, so mark which of them you need. If the employer no longer exists, they are sought from the regional archive rather than from the employer.

Common questions

What is the difference between the two certificates?
One shows insurable income for a chosen period; the other shows the length and category of service. A pension file usually needs both, but they are different documents and are issued separately.
The company no longer exists. Where do I get them?
From the regional archive, which holds the records of wound-up undertakings, rather than from a successor of your choosing. In that case the request goes there and gives the employer's exact name as it was at the time.
Which period should I ask for?
The one your file needs — usually the most favourable years of insurable income. Write the period in expressly, because a request with no period is often met for the last year only.
The employer is dragging their feet. What can I do?
File the request in writing with a reference number, if you have not already. A spoken request starts no clock and leaves no trace; a written one is what makes it possible to hold anyone to account for the delay.
