The record made when a phone, laptop or appliance is left at a repair shop in Romania: the product and serial number, the accessories handed over, the fault reported, its visible condition, and the estimated cost and time. Common questions

Why make a record when leaving a product at a repair shop in Romania?

To prove what was handed over and in what condition: the product, the serial number, the accessories and the fault reported. If something is missing on collection, or there is a new scratch, the record shows how the product looked when it was left.

Can the shop do more expensive repairs than agreed?

Not without the customer's agreement. The record fixes the estimated cost and says any work above it needs the customer's prior agreement; a repair done without it can be refused at payment.

What if the product left for repair is under warranty?

If the product has a lack of conformity within the seller's liability period, the repair is free and takes no more than 15 calendar days (Emergency Ordinance no. 140/2021). The duty is the seller's, so this applies when the product is handed to the seller or to the service the seller names; the record proves the handover date, from which the period is counted.
