For tenants of a flat in Liechtenstein who deal with their landlord in English: the written notice ending the lease (§ 1090 Art. 47 of the Liechtenstein Civil Code, ABGB), with three months' notice to the end of a month or the lease's longer period (Art. 37, 39), and for the next possible date if the chosen one is missed. It has lines for every tenant and for the express written consent of a spouse or registered partner where the flat is the family home (Art. 48). Print, sign, and send by registered post or hand over against a receipt. This English version is for your understanding. Common questions

Can I give notice on a flat in Liechtenstein in English?
The tenancy law asks for a notice in writing and signed, not in a particular language (§ 1090 Art. 47 ABGB; § 886 ABGB), and English suits a lease in English or a landlord you deal with in English. If your lease is in German, or the landlord may not read English, send the German version of this letter. This English version is for your understanding. If it goes to a Liechtenstein authority or court, send the German version: they work in German only.
What notice must a tenant give on a Liechtenstein flat, and by when?
Three months to the end of any month (§ 1090 Art. 39 ABGB), or the lease's longer period (Art. 37 para. 1); there are no local termination dates as in the Swiss cantons. The notice must arrive before the period begins: for the end of June, by 31 March. Receipt counts, not posting, so post a registered letter at least ten days early or hand it over against a dated receipt. A late notice holds for the next possible date (Art. 37 para. 2).
Who signs a tenant's notice on a family home in Liechtenstein?
Every tenant named in the lease, and — where the flat is the family home — the other spouse or registered partner, whose express written consent is required (§ 1090 Art. 48 ABGB); without it the notice is void (Art. 50). If consent is refused without good reason, the court can decide (Art. 48 para. 2). An ordinary e-mail is not enough: the notice must be signed (§ 886 ABGB).
