What must a permanent employment contract in Poland contain?

The parties and the employer's registered address, the type of contract, its date and the terms of work and pay: the kind of work, where it is done, pay with its components, working time and the start date (art. 29 § 1 of the Labour Code). The rest — working-time norms, leave, notice periods — the employer gives in writing within 7 days of the employee starting work.

Must an employment contract be signed before the first day of work?

Yes. An employment contract is made in writing, and if it was not, the employer must confirm its type, parties and terms to the employee in writing before letting them start work (art. 29 § 2 of the Labour Code). Letting someone start without that confirmation is an offence against employee rights.

By what day must the employer pay the salary?

Pay due once a month is paid in arrears, as soon as its full amount is known, and no later than the first 10 days of the next calendar month (art. 85 of the Labour Code). So the contract lets you set the pay day, but not later than the tenth. Pay goes to a bank account unless the employee asks in writing to be paid in cash.
