The written request by which an employee in Moldova resigns, under the Moldovan Labour Code. A resignation needs neither the employer's consent nor a reason: notice is 14 calendar days, counted from the day after the request is registered, or one month for the head of the unit, the deputies and the chief accountant (art. 85). The letter can also propose ending earlier by written agreement. It is handed in for registration or sent by registered post with acknowledgement of receipt.

Common questions
- How much notice does a resignation need in Moldova?
- 14 calendar days, counted from the day after the employer registers the request (art. 85 of the Moldovan Labour Code). For the head of the unit, the deputies, the chief accountant and the heads of branches or representative offices it is one month. By the parties' written agreement the contract can also end before the notice runs out — the letter lets you propose the date.
- Can a Moldovan employee take back a resignation once it is handed in?
- Yes, within 7 calendar days of filing the request (art. 85 of the Moldovan Labour Code). The withdrawal is made in writing too and registered with the employer, like the request, so that its date can be proved. After those 7 days the contract ends when the notice runs out, unless the parties agree otherwise in writing.
- How should the resignation be handed in so that its registration can be proved?
- Hand two copies to the employer and ask for the registration number and date to be written on yours: the notice starts the next day. If the employer will not register it, send it through Poșta Moldovei by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt. The request is signed by hand; sent by e-mail, it can carry a qualified electronic signature (MSign or a mobile signature), which has the effect of a handwritten one.
