The PDF you download is in Greek — that is the language it has to be filed in, so it is not translated. Everything on this page is here to tell you what it says.

A written agreement between an employer and an employee in Cyprus for telework under the Telework Framework Law of 2023: pattern and days, place, hours and time recording, the right to disconnect and the measures that secure it, equipment, costs, data, health and safety, and the return to the office. Telework is voluntary and agreed in writing, and the employer bears the equipment and its costs. The agreement also serves as the written statement of telework terms the Law requires.

Common questions

Can an employer in Cyprus impose remote work?
Only in one case: to protect public health, when an order of the Minister of Health is issued under the Infectious Diseases Law, and for the period the order sets. Otherwise, under Law 120(I)/2023 telework is voluntary and agreed in writing, and an employee's refusal may not lead to less favourable treatment. Conversely, the employee may ask to telework where there is a documented risk to their own health that working remotely avoids, for as long as the risk lasts; if the employer disputes it, an approved doctor documents the risk. Telework does not change pay or the other terms of employment.
Who pays for remote work equipment and costs in Cyprus?
The employer. The telework Law does not allow its cost to be passed on to the employee: the employer provides or pays for the equipment, telecommunications, technical support and the upkeep or repair of the equipment. The agreement has room to write exactly what is covered and how, for example a fixed monthly sum for internet and electricity.
What is the right to disconnect for remote workers in Cyprus?
A teleworker's right not to work, and not to answer work calls, messages and emails, outside the agreed hours, without adverse consequences. Law 120(I)/2023 recognises it and asks for the measures that secure it to be agreed in writing, and the employer gives the telework terms in writing within eight days of the start. That is why the agreement asks you to write down the disconnection measures.

  • Request for a social insurance record statement (Cyprus)

The written request to the Social Insurance Services in Cyprus for a statement of one's insurance record: periods of insurance, insurable earnings, contributions and employers for the period you choose. It serves to check that an employer paid the contributions, before a claim for a benefit or pension, or for use in another country. It is also made as a request for access to personal data under art. 15 of the General Data Protection Regulation. With a verified CY Login account the statement can also be seen on gov.cy; this letter is for asking in writing, at the district office, a Citizen Service Centre or by email.

  • Notice to the employer of sick leave (Cyprus)

The written notice in which an employee in Cyprus tells the employer they are off sick: from when, until when the absence is expected to last, which doctor is issuing the medical certificate and whether it is enclosed or will follow. It promises no pay for the first three days, for which no sickness benefit is paid, and asks for it only if the employment contract or a collective agreement provides for it. From the fourth day, sickness benefit is paid by Social Insurance.

  • Employee confidentiality agreement (Cyprus)

The agreement by which an employee in Cyprus undertakes to keep the employer's information confidential, during and after the employment, and not to approach, for a limited time, the clients and colleagues they worked with. It contains no non-compete clause: under section 27 of the Contract Law, Cap. 149, an agreement that stops someone practising a lawful profession is void, and only narrow, reasonable restrictions can stand. It expressly excludes the employee's general knowledge and reports of wrongdoing.

  • Demand for unpaid wages (Cyprus)

A written demand by an employee or former employee in Cyprus to the employer for wages that have not been paid: the job, the salary, the unpaid periods and the amount owed, with seven days to pay into a bank account, the documents attached and a request for a written reply within 14 days. It warns that, if unpaid, a written complaint to the Department of Labour Relations under the Protection of Wages Law and a claim before the Labour Disputes Court will follow, or, above two years' wages, before the District Court, for which it is also the letter of claim the Civil Procedure Rules require. It is sent by registered post or by hand.

  • Parental leave request to the employer (Cyprus)

A working parent's written request to the employer in Cyprus for parental leave under Law 216(I)/2022: the child, the dates, the length and the leave already taken, with room for the employer's reply. After six months' service the Law gives up to 18 weeks for each child until the child turns 15 (21 with a disability), from one day to five weeks a year (seven with three or more children), on a request made at least three weeks before the start. Social Insurance Services pay a benefit for part of the leave, eight weeks for the first child and more for later children, on the parent's own separate claim.

  • Unpaid leave agreement (Cyprus)

A written agreement between an employer and an employee in Cyprus for leave without pay: how long it lasts, the return date, what happens to the employment contract, social insurance and length of service, and which benefits continue. Unpaid leave is granted by agreement between the two, which is why its terms are best written down before it starts. The employment contract is suspended, not ended, and the employee returns to the job on the date set.
