Revocation of a power of attorney (Cyprus)
The written revocation of a general or special power of attorney in Cyprus, addressed to the person you appointed. It states that their authority has ended, asks for the original back and an account of what they did, and lists the third parties — banks, the Land Registry, government departments, counterparties — who are sent a copy. In Cyprus a revocation binds third parties only once they learn of it, and until then the attorney can still bind you towards them. It is sent by registered post or by hand against a signature.
Parent's consent for a minor's medical care by a carer (Cyprus)
The written consent by which a parent lets whoever looks after their child in their absence — a grandparent, a school-trip or camp leader — take the child to a doctor in Cyprus or abroad, receive information and agree to routine medical care for a set period. It gives the doctor the child's allergies, medicines and GESY personal doctor, leaves serious procedures to the parent, and follows the Cypriot Patients' Rights Law, under which a parent consents for a minor and the child's own view counts for more as the child grows older.
General power of attorney (Cyprus)
The power of attorney by which you appoint someone you trust to act for you in Cyprus in a range of matters: at government departments, Citizen Service Centres and local authorities, the Tax Department and Social Insurance, banks and utilities. It sets the powers, what is left out — such as selling property — whether the attorney may appoint a substitute, and how long it lasts, and is signed before a certifying officer or at a Citizen Service Centre (KEP), which certifies the signature. For use abroad it also needs an apostille. Cyprus has no lasting power of attorney that survives the principal's loss of capacity.
Employee confidentiality agreement (Cyprus)
The agreement by which an employee in Cyprus undertakes to keep the employer's information confidential, during and after the employment, and not to approach, for a limited time, the clients and colleagues they worked with. It contains no non-compete clause: under section 27 of the Contract Law, Cap. 149, an agreement that stops someone practising a lawful profession is void, and only narrow, reasonable restrictions can stand. It expressly excludes the employee's general knowledge and reports of wrongdoing.
Parent's consent for a minor to travel abroad (Cyprus)
The written consent of the parent who is not travelling, for their minor child to travel abroad from Cyprus with the other parent or another adult. In Cyprus it is needed even if the parents live together, and a child travelling with neither parent needs both parents' consent. It has the parent's, child's and companion's details, destinations and dates, the full text in Greek and in English, and is signed with the signature certified by a certifying officer or at a Citizen Service Centre (KEP). It is DocMuse's own text; the Government also has a form of its own.
Demand for unpaid wages (Cyprus)
A written demand by an employee or former employee in Cyprus to the employer for wages that have not been paid: the job, the salary, the unpaid periods and the amount owed, with seven days to pay into a bank account, the documents attached and a request for a written reply within 14 days. It warns that, if unpaid, a written complaint to the Department of Labour Relations under the Protection of Wages Law and a claim before the Labour Disputes Court will follow, or, above two years' wages, before the District Court, for which it is also the letter of claim the Civil Procedure Rules require. It is sent by registered post or by hand.
Remote work agreement (Cyprus)
A written agreement between an employer and an employee in Cyprus for telework under the Telework Framework Law of 2023: pattern and days, place, hours and time recording, the right to disconnect and the measures that secure it, equipment, costs, data, health and safety, and the return to the office. Telework is voluntary and agreed in writing, and the employer bears the equipment and its costs. The agreement also serves as the written statement of telework terms the Law requires.
Parental leave request to the employer (Cyprus)
A working parent's written request to the employer in Cyprus for parental leave under Law 216(I)/2022: the child, the dates, the length and the leave already taken, with room for the employer's reply. After six months' service the Law gives up to 18 weeks for each child until the child turns 15 (21 with a disability), from one day to five weeks a year (seven with three or more children), on a request made at least three weeks before the start. Social Insurance Services pay a benefit for part of the leave, eight weeks for the first child and more for later children, on the parent's own separate claim.
Unpaid leave agreement (Cyprus)
A written agreement between an employer and an employee in Cyprus for leave without pay: how long it lasts, the return date, what happens to the employment contract, social insurance and length of service, and which benefits continue. Unpaid leave is granted by agreement between the two, which is why its terms are best written down before it starts. The employment contract is suspended, not ended, and the employee returns to the job on the date set.
Request for a certificate of employment (Cyprus)
A written request by an employee or former employee in Cyprus asking the employer for a certificate of employment: the job and the period worked, and, if wanted, the pay or an assessment of the work. It serves a new employer, a bank, a landlord, a residence permit or studies. A written request, with a date for the reply, leaves proof of what was asked for and when.
Annual leave request (Cyprus)
An employee's written request to the employer in Cyprus for paid annual leave: dates, working days, the leave year and who covers, with room for the employer's approval on the same sheet. Under the Annual Leave with Pay Law of 1967, a full year's work earns at least 20 working days on a five-day week and 24 on a six-day week; a contract may give more. A written request leaves a record of what was asked for and what was approved.
Mutual agreement to end employment (Cyprus)
The agreement by which an employer and an employee in Cyprus end the employment contract together, without a dismissal or a resignation. It sets the last working day, the pay and annual leave still owed, any agreed lump sum and when it is paid, the return of equipment, a certificate of employment and continuing confidentiality, with a settlement clause that leaves untouched any rights the law does not allow to be waived. It rests on the Contract Law, Cap. 149, which requires free consent.
Resignation letter (Cyprus)
The letter by which an employee in Cyprus resigns and ends the employment contract. It states the notice in weeks and the last working day, asks for the sums due with the final pay and for a certificate of employment, and leaves room for the employer to sign for receipt. Under the Termination of Employment Law the employee owes less notice than the employer: one week after 26 weeks' service, two after 52 and three after 260, and none during probation.
Fixed-term employment contract (Cyprus)
A written employment contract with an end date for an employee in Cyprus: job, place and hours, gross salary, social insurance, annual leave, probation in proportion to the term, and the reason for the fixed term. It sets whether the contract can be ended early on notice or only by agreement, and follows Law 98(I)/2003: a fixed-term employee may not be treated less favourably than permanent staff, and employment that reaches 30 months in total on successive contracts counts as open-ended unless there is an objective reason.
Open-ended employment contract (Cyprus)
A written employment contract with no end date for an employee in Cyprus: job and duties, place and hours of work, gross salary in words, payment into a bank account, social insurance, 20 or 24 days' annual leave, probation and termination under the Termination of Employment Law. It gives in writing the terms Law 25(I)/2023 requires the employer to hand over, the core ones within seven days of the start, and protects confidential information without a non-compete clause, which Cypriot law would treat as void.
Tenant's notice of defects in a rented home (Cyprus)
A Cypriot tenant's written notice asking the landlord to repair defects in the home, such as damp, leaks, electrical faults or a broken air conditioner. It describes the defects and when they were found, sets a deadline and gives a phone number to arrange the work, states that the rent will continue to be paid, and reserves a claim for damages if the repair is not made. It is sent by registered post, with photographs.
Request for the landlord's consent to sublet (Cyprus)
A Cypriot tenant's written request for the landlord's consent to sublet, long-term or short-term through an online platform. It describes the part of the home, the subtenant and the period, states that the tenant keeps paying the rent and remains responsible, and has room for the landlord to sign consent. Where the lease forbids subletting without consent, subletting without it breaches the lease and, in a statutory tenancy, is a ground for recovering possession under the Rent Control Law.
Move-out record and deposit settlement (Cyprus)
The record a landlord and tenant in Cyprus sign when the tenancy ends and the home is handed back: the condition of each room, damage beyond ordinary wear, the final meter readings, the keys, and how much of the deposit the landlord keeps, why, and by when the rest is returned. By signing it the landlord limits claims for visible damage to what is listed, which settles the deposit.
Move-in record and inventory (Cyprus)
The record a landlord and tenant in Cyprus sign when the home is handed over: the condition of each room, an inventory of furniture and equipment, the electricity and water meter readings, the keys, and the defects already there. Because a deposit in Cyprus is governed by the lease rather than by statute, this record is what decides at the end what is damage and what is ordinary wear. Photographs taken the same day complete it.
Demand for the return of a deposit (Cyprus)
A former tenant's written demand to a landlord in Cyprus for a deposit that has not been returned. It refers to the lease, the amount of the deposit and the date the home was handed back, states that no rent is owed and there is no damage beyond ordinary wear, and gives 14 days to pay into a bank account before going to court. It encloses the documents and asks for a written reply within 14 days, as the Civil Procedure Rules require before a claim for a sum of money. It is sent by registered post so that the sending can be proved.
Notice of a rent increase (Cyprus)
A Cypriot landlord's written notice of a new rent for a home, with the current and new amounts and the date it applies from, and room for the tenant to accept. It is written for three cases: an increase the lease provides for; an increase in a statutory tenancy under the Rent Control Law, once every two years, up to the capped percentage, which is 6% for 22 April 2025 – 21 April 2027, or more where the rent is below 90% of the average for the area, and, if the tenant does not accept it, by order of the Rent Control Court; or a new rent as a condition of renewal, which applies only if the tenant accepts it.
Landlord's notice ending a tenancy and demanding possession (Cyprus)
A Cypriot landlord's written notice ending the tenancy of a home and demanding possession back: at the end of the agreed term, with the notice an open-ended tenancy requires, or for unpaid rent, with 21 days to pay. It is written for both regimes: in a statutory tenancy, the notice of arrears is the one the Rent Control Law requires before an application to the Rent Control Court; in any other, it opens the way to the District Court.
Room rental and house-sharing agreement (Cyprus)
For renting a single room in a home in Cyprus where the owner also lives or other rooms are let. It describes the room and the shared areas, sets how the electricity, water and internet bills are split and the house rules, ties the deposit to the move-in and move-out records, and gives the tenant an early-termination clause on written notice. The rent is paid by bank transfer, and since 2026 the agreement needs no stamp duty.
Tenant's notice ending a tenancy (Cyprus)
The written notice by which a tenant of a home in Cyprus ends the tenancy: under the lease's break clause, with the notice an open-ended tenancy requires, at the end of the agreed term, or as an offer to end it by agreement where the lease gives no other way out. It sets the end date and the date the home is handed back, asks for the deposit to be returned to a bank account, and is sent by registered post or by hand, so that what was sent and when can be proved.
