Payment summons between businesses (Romania)
The summons in which one Romanian company demands overdue invoices from another, written as the step a payment order requires (art. 1015 of the Code of Civil Procedure): 15 days to pay, sent by bailiff or registered post with declared contents and acknowledgment of receipt. It claims the debt, late-payment interest at the central bank's reference rate plus 8 points, and the recovery-cost compensation of Law no. 72/2013.
Revocation of a power of attorney (Romania)
The notice by which the person who gave a power of attorney in Romania revokes it. A principal may revoke a mandate at any time (art. 2031 of the Civil Code), but the revocation binds the agent from receipt, and third parties only once it has been brought to their notice or they knew or could have known of it. That is why the letter asks for the power of attorney back and lists the offices and people who have been told.
Cancelling a subscription for services (Romania)
The notice by which a consumer in Romania ends a subscription — a gym, an online platform, a course, any recurring service: the contract, the notice period and end date, stopping automatic debits, and a refund of payments made in advance for the time after it ends. It notes that a term allowing no way out, or imposing disproportionate penalties, may be unfair (Law no. 193/2000).
Request to close a bank account (Romania)
The request by which an account holder in Romania closes a current account and ends the framework agreement with the bank: the account, the closing date, the cards attached, the account to receive the balance, and the cancellation of standing orders and direct debits. The agreement can be ended at any time with at most 30 days' notice, and closing is free at the latest once the account is 6 months old (Law no. 209/2019).
Cancelling a phone, internet or TV contract (Romania)
The notice by which a consumer in Romania ends a contract with a phone, internet or TV provider and, if needed, complains about the service. It cites the rules that protect them: an initial term of at most 24 months, termination at any time after it with at most a month's notice, and termination without cost when the provider changes the contract unilaterally. It announces the return of the equipment and asks for confirmation.
Demand for payment before court action (Romania)
The summons in which a private creditor in Romania demands a sum owed under a contract — a loan, rent, an unpaid price — within 15 days, as the Code of Civil Procedure requires before a payment order (art. 1015). Sent by bailiff or by registered post with declared contents and acknowledgment of receipt, it opens the way to the fast procedure and puts the debtor in default.
Notice to the motor insurer that a vehicle has been sold (Romania)
The notice in which a seller tells their motor (RCA) insurer in Romania that the vehicle has been sold. A Romanian RCA policy does not pass to the buyer: the seller's contract ends on notification, and the premium for the remaining period is refunded if no compensation has been paid or is owed under the policy. The letter identifies the policy and the vehicle, gives the date of sale and the new owner, and asks for the refund to the account given.
Demand for a price reduction or a refund for a faulty product (Romania)
The demand in which a consumer in Romania, after the product was not repaired or replaced in time or the fault came back, asks for a proportionate price reduction or for the contract to be ended and the money refunded, under Emergency Ordinance no. 140/2021. It refers to the earlier complaint, says why this step is taken, states the sum and the account, and notes that the return is at the seller's expense.
Notice to the employer of sick leave (Romania)
The notice in which an employee in Romania tells the employer they are on sick leave: from when, until when it is expected to last, the sick-leave certificate, the doctor who issued it and where that doctor works, and how to reach the employee. The rules implementing Emergency Ordinance no. 158/2005 require the employer to be told within 24 hours of the leave being granted. It also announces that the certificate will be handed in by the 5th of the following month, for the benefit to be worked out. An employee on sick leave cannot be dismissed, except in the employer's judicial reorganisation, bankruptcy or winding-up.
Withdrawal form for an online or distance purchase (Romania)
The notice by which a consumer in Romania withdraws from an online, phone or off-premises purchase within 14 days — 30 if the contract was made during an unsolicited visit to the home or on an excursion organised by the trader — without giving a reason (Emergency Ordinance no. 34/2014). It identifies the product and the order, asks for every payment — standard delivery included — to be refunded within 14 days to the account given, and announces the return of the goods. It follows the content of the model in the ordinance's annex.
Cancelling a direct debit or standing order (Romania)
The request by which an account holder in Romania stops a direct debit or a standing order: the payee, the mandate reference and the date the cancellation takes effect. Under Law no. 209/2019 a direct debit can be revoked until the end of the business day before the debit. The contract with the supplier, though, stays in force and is ended separately.
Demand for unpaid wages and overtime (Romania)
The notice in which an employee in Romania demands unpaid wages and overtime not made up with time off: the periods, the hours, the sum and a deadline. It cites the rules that give it weight: overtime not compensated with time off within 90 days is paid with a premium of at least 75%, and wage claims can be brought in court for 3 years, free of court fees.
Resignation letter (Romania)
The notice by which an employee in Romania resigns. A resignation needs neither approval nor a reason — the employer must only register it — and the notice period is the contract's, but at most 20 working days for staff roles and 45 for management. The letter states the last working day and asks for the final pay, including untaken leave, and the certificate of employment and seniority.
Demand for the return of a rental deposit (Romania)
The letter in which a former tenant in Romania demands back a deposit the landlord has not returned. It is written as a summons under art. 1015 of the Code of Civil Procedure — with 15 days to pay — so that, sent by registered post with declared contents and acknowledgment of receipt, it opens the way to a payment order if the money is not returned.
Landlord's notice ending a rental agreement (Romania)
The notice by which a landlord ends a Romanian residential tenancy. An open-ended agreement can be ended with at least 60 days' notice; a fixed-term one only if the agreement allows it, and only for the housing needs of the landlord or their family. The notice states the reason, the end date and how the home and keys are to be handed back.
Tenant's notice ending a rental agreement (Romania)
The notice by which a tenant ends a Romanian residential tenancy. The Civil Code lets a tenant end even a fixed-term agreement with at least 60 days' notice, and a clause setting a shorter period has no effect. The notice gives the end date, proposes a date to hand the home back against a handover record, and asks for the deposit to be returned.
