Faulty goods, subscriptions and unpaid debts in Liechtenstein
Since 1 March 2026 a consumer who buys goods from a business in Liechtenstein is covered by the Consumer Warranty Act (KonsGG): the seller answers for defects that come to light within two years of delivery, a defect appearing in the first year is presumed to have been there at delivery, and the buyer first chooses repair or replacement, then a price reduction or ending the contract. Other purchases fall under §§ 922 ff. of the Civil Code (ABGB). For purchases from that date the rights lapse three months after the warranty period (earlier ones: court within two years of delivery), so the notice of defect, also in English, sets a dated deadline; the Office of Economic Affairs settles consumer disputes free of charge.
A subscription ends by notice. For recurring deliveries the Consumer Protection Act lets a consumer give two months’ notice to the end of the first year and then of each half-year (Art. 20 KSchG), and a provider cannot require a stricter form than a signed letter. The cancellation letter, or its English version, ends the contract on the next possible date. A contract made at a distance in the last 14 days can instead be withdrawn from with the free model form annexed to the FAGG.
Liechtenstein has no debt collection office: an unpaid creditor asks the Princely Court of Justice (Landgericht) for a conditional payment order (Zahlbefehl), which the debtor can stop within 14 days by an objection that needs no reasons (§§ 577 ff. ZPO). Statutory default interest is 5% a year, and higher between businesses. Before that step comes a final demand or its English twin. DocMuse is a private service, not an authority, and gives no legal advice.

12 forms available to fill in or download.
Withdrawal from an online or off-premises purchase (Liechtenstein)
Liechtenstein · in English · for consumers
For a consumer in Liechtenstein who bought goods or a service online, by phone or away from the trader's premises and has changed their mind. The notice withdraws the contract within the withdrawal period under Art. 12 of the Distance and Off-Premises Contracts Act (FAGG) — 14 days — with no reason needed, and asks for a refund within 14 days. The model form the trader must give you, or the trader's own online form, does the same job free. Send it by registered post and keep the receipt.
Flight delay or cancellation compensation claim (Liechtenstein)
Liechtenstein · in English · for consumers
For a passenger whose flight arrived three hours or more late, was cancelled with less than 14 days' notice, or who was denied boarding, on a flight covered by Regulation (EC) No 261/2004: every flight from an airport in the EU, Iceland, Norway or Switzerland, and flights into them on an airline from one of those countries. The letter claims the fixed compensation — €250, €400 or €600 per passenger, by distance — from the airline that operated the flight. The airline's own claim form and the EU complaint form are free and do the same job. Send it by registered post and keep the receipt.
Chargeback request to your card issuer (Liechtenstein)
Liechtenstein · in English · for consumers
For someone in Liechtenstein who paid by debit or credit card and did not get what they paid for — goods never delivered, faulty or not as described, a refund never paid, a payment taken twice — and could not settle it with the trader. The letter asks the card provider to raise a chargeback under the card scheme's rules and to answer in writing. Many providers have a free online dispute form that does the same job; ask the trader first.
Package holiday complaint (Liechtenstein)
Liechtenstein · in English · for consumers
For a traveller whose package holiday — transport and accommodation, or other travel services, sold together — was not as booked. The letter tells the organiser that it is responsible for every service in the package under Art. 12(1) of the Package Travel Act (PRG), and claims a price reduction and compensation, with a total and 14 days to reply. The Office of Economic Affairs (Amt für Volkswirtschaft) settles, free of charge, disputes between consumers and traders established in Liechtenstein that no other conciliation body handles (Art. 1 Abs. 1, Art. 4 Abs. 3 and Art. 12 AStG). Send it by registered post and keep the receipt.
